Black Masala / Caroline Rose / The Water Project – Sat, Nov 18th @ 8pm
Think about the best concerts you’ve attended and chances are you had a lot of fun, dancing and smiling throughout the show. This is exactly the kind of vibe you will experience when Black Masala is performing live. Performing hundreds of shows a year has helped Washington, DC’s gypsy punk brass band hone their sound, while injecting it with a healthy dose of funk, soul and eclectic grooves. Black Masala is all about having fun!
Black Masala are having a lot of fun incorporating various musical influences into their go-anywhere Brass sound. Ranging from Gypsy punk, Balkan brass and New Orleans funk, to Bhangra and bounce, with heavy horns and danceable rhythms.
The band has not let up, touring heavily with their infectious live show to clubs and festivals up and down the East Coast. This fall sees the band reaching new heights and new regions with some exciting tour dates. New fans will be hooked and those already familiar with the band will be excited to hear and see new instruments and songs.
If you’re reading this it means you may be considering coming to one of our shows, so it would behoove me to tell you that you may see me in spandex. If you are bringing small children I cannot guarantee our show will be age-appropriate, so keep that in mind, and if you do decide to bring your child at the very least make sure they’re wearing ear protection.
